Isolated and left on their own at a wild animal safari park at the beginning of a zombie uprising, the boys and girls from the school field trip must learn how to survive on their own. They are safe behind the tall fences and strong walls, but what about all the wild animals inside the gates with them?

In early 1983, electrical engineer Barry Norris travelled from Sheffield to Japan to help build an oil rig in Yokohama. Each week he recorded his thoughts on cassette tapes, describing daily life in Japan during its industrial boom, from shipyards and sushi bars to earthquakes and karaoke nights. More than forty years later, his son David Norris introduces and shares those recordings in full, preserving the unfiltered voice of a Geordie abroad.

The bears were hungry and the panther was pacing her cage. It was supposed to be a fun field trip to the wild animal safari. It became a nightmare of blood. The zombie virus spread like wildfire and by noon, they were alone. Safe inside the fences, a group of school kids are the only survivors. Like the animals, they’ve lived their whole lives being cared for and fed, pampered, and loved. Now, they have to learn from each other how to survive, how to hunt, and how to kill.

The tribe had a far distance to travel and the undead weren't their only enemies. The hyena hunted them relentlessly, unscrupulous men wanted what they had, and even Mother Nature seemed to be against them. Even if they made it, could they put away their weapons, leave their animals behind and go back to school? Could they go back to being children or had they been too long in the wild?

Willie Ryan returns to his home town in 'the great central plain of Ireland' after escaping from the asylum where he was committed, and unvisited, by his devout Catholic family for twenty-five years. The pretext for his incarceration was an attack on his sister-in-law; the real reason, an affair with a hedonistic young man who introduced him to art, literature and music.
