Tom Schreck is the author of the Duffy Dombrowski mystery series and the Notre Dame–set thriller The Second Burning. A graduate of the University of Notre Dame, where he lived in Alumni Hall, Schreck brings an insider’s eye to campus life, tradition, and rivalry—especially when it comes to Dillon Hall. His work blends fast-paced mystery with rich, authentic settings, from the boxing gyms of upstate New York to the iconic landmarks of Notre Dame. In The Second Burning, Schreck draws on the history and symbolism of campus to craft a suspenseful football weekend thriller layered with echoes of General Sherman and the enduring tensions of American identity. Schreck is also an experienced boxing judge, having officiated hundreds of professional bouts, including world title fights at Madison Square Garden and in Las Vegas. That background informs the grit, realism, and emotional stakes that define his fiction. He lives in the Albany, New York area with his wife Sue, along with a rotating cast of dogs and cats.
