Ted Cowart, born in Santa Clara, California, and raised across two countries, brings a distinctive cinematic perspective to short fiction, leveraging his background in film school and hands-on experience as a production assistant in the locations department for various films, TV shows, and miniseries. This expertise enables him to craft stories with a distinctly visual storytelling style. Many of his short stories originated as film scripts - tales initially written for the screen that have found new expression on the page. When traditional funding proved elusive for his film projects, Ted transformed these visual narratives into compelling short fiction. His journey with visual storytelling began early: at age five, capturing striking photographs on a Kodak 110 camera, and at seven, receiving his first Super 8 motion picture camera from his grandparents. This early fascination with practical effects and cinematography has profoundly influenced his writing approach, bringing a filmmaker's eye to every scene. Ted writes about the subjects that have captivated him since childhood, drawing inspiration from personal experiences, observations, and a lifelong passion for science fiction and fantasy. His work reflects diverse interests cultivated through years of independent study, combined with professional experience in videography and volunteer work at television stations. Currently based in Los Angeles - his second attempt at making it in the entertainment capital - Ted continues pursuing his dream of directing while sharing his stories through the written word. Having started creative writing at eleven and spent decades honing his craft, Ted brings both youthful wonder and professional experience to every tale. Ted is also working on two novels, and more of his short stories.
