About John Mayfield John Mayfield has spent more than four decades in the real estate business, earning his license in 1978 at age 18 and becoming a practicing broker in 1981. He has owned and operated multiple brokerage offices in Southeast Missouri and has been actively teaching pre-license, post-license, and professional development courses since 1988. Over the years, John has earned many of the industry’s top designations, including ABR®, ABRM, CRB, CIPS, e-PRO®, GRI, RENE, Military, and SRS, and he is a licensed broker in Missouri, Indiana, and Florida. John is a graduate of Southeast Missouri State University and a graduate of REALTOR® University’s Master of Real Estate program, where his professors awarded him the Capstone Award for his thesis. His leadership and service to the industry have been widely recognized, including REALTOR® of the Year honors, the Richard A. Mendenhall Leadership Award, the REBI Hall of Leaders Award, and the 2025 Missouri REALTOR® of the Year. In 2020, he also received the prestigious DREI (Distinguished Real Estate Instructor) designation from the Real Estate Educators Association. Internationally, John has twice served as President of the World Council of Brokers (FIABCI) and has been awarded its Medal of Honor for continued service. He has spoken to thousands of real estate professionals in more than 25 countries and has served as a National Association of REALTORS® liaison to Greece, Serbia, and Bulgaria. He remains actively involved in global real estate education and leadership. John is the author of eight real estate books and the creator of the popular “5-Minutes Series for Real Estate Agents.” He is also co-author of 21 Mistakes Real Estate Brokers Make and How to Avoid Them with Corky Hyatt. Alongside his speaking and writing, he owns and operates a brokerage and Global Real Estate School, which delivers real estate education in ten states. Based in Farmington, Missouri, John continues to work directly in the field while helping agents and brokers grow through education, technology, and practical business strategies. He and his wife, Kerry, have two children, Alex and Anne, and he remains active in community service and professional leadership at the local, state, and national levels.
