Damon Gonzalez is an author and songwriter based in Los Angeles. Originally from Brooklyn, New York, his fiction series Survival in New York: A Gay Man's Journey chronicles his experiences growing up in 1990s New York City. At its heart, the series is about survival — in all its forms. From childhood trauma and the quiet anguish of bullying, to the discovery of identity as a gay teenager hiding in plain sight, finding salvation on the dance floor and in the pulse of New York's legendary club scene. The books follow his journey through first love, self-discovery, and the complicated passage into adulthood — navigating the aftermath of 9/11, a harrowing encounter with a serial killer, and the kind of tragic loss that reshapes a person completely. The series spans five novels: Killer Instinct, Catching Light, Static Heart, Man Up!, and What's Left. His latest title, The Espresso Affair, expands his fictional universe into new territory — a slow-burn story of desire and forbidden love set inside a New York City office, where temptation is inescapable and the stakes are everything. It's about the risk of losing it all for someone you can't quite read — a connection that burns hot within the confines of a secret, but leaves you wondering whether it could survive the light of day. But for Damon, the story doesn't end on the page. The Cinnamon After Dark EP serves as a sonic extension of his literary world, bringing the characters, emotions, and atmospheres of his books to life through sound — where readers become listeners, and listeners find themselves living inside the story.
