Clayton Littlewood is a British writer and former Soho boutique owner whose work chronicles queer life, love, loss and survival with humour, honesty and sharp observational detail. His first book, Dirty White Boy: Tales of Soho, began life as a cult blog before becoming a popular column in The London Paper. Published in 2008, the book drew comparisons to the diaries of Samuel Pepys and the work of Christopher Isherwood, and was named Gay Times Book of the Year in 2009. It received praise from figures including Sir Elton John, Stephen Fry, Holly Johnson and Sebastian Horsley. In 2009, Dirty White Boy was adapted into a sell-out stage play at London's Trafalgar Studios starring Clayton Littlewood and actor David Benson. Clayton later published the sequel Goodbye to Soho in 2012, followed by a collection of short fiction titled Six Stories. In 2026, Clayton published his memoir A Man’s Own Life, tracing five decades of queer life from a working-class childhood in Weston-super-Mare through the Soho years of the 1980s and 90s to present-day Florida. Born in Weston-super-Mare and shaped by living in London’s Soho, Clayton now lives in Florida, where he continues to write. Clayton can also be found on Instagram at @claytonlittlewood
