"Le retour du roi", dernière partie du "Seigneur des anneaux" voit s'achever la quête de Frodo. Toujours accompagné de Sam et Gollum, sa traversée du Mordor pour atteindre la montagne du destin est plus périlleuse que jamais. Wir lernen mit Bilbo Beutlin einen typischen Vertreter der Hobbits kennen, die laut Tolkien kleiner als die bösartigen Zwerge sind, dazu neigen, ein bisschen fett in der Magengegend zu werden, und außerdem (besonders nach den Mahlzeiten) tief und saftig lachen können. Dass ausgerechnet ein Anti-Held wie Bilbo - wenngleich nicht ganz freiwillig - zum Abenteurer wird, macht ihn uns erst recht sympathisch...
