Summary

 In the winter of 1998, Luna's car died on a stretch of Nevada highway between Battle Mountain and Elko, stranding her at a Greyhound station that shouldn't have been there. The station was warm and fluorescent-bright, with a single vending machine that only sold warm cans of ginger ale. A woman in a down coat sat on the bench, and she told Luna about the bus schedule — how the 2:15 always came, but sometimes it never left. The station attendant had a habit of staring at the wall clock, counting seconds under his breath. Luna waited twelve hours with them, watching the snow pile against the glass doors, and by morning she understood that some routes are not meant to be boarded.
