Summary

Standup comic Jen Fulwiler combines Catholic intellectual tradition, neuropsychology, and a bunch of dumb jokes to make moms feel better about life. Basically, this podcast is like if someone gave a TED Talk after three mimosas. Parenting & Families Relationships

  • 296 - What Being Catholic Did to My Life
    May 13 2026

I had a moment the other day that made me say to myself, "Wow. Being Catholic has made my life soooo different than what I expected it to be." I talk about that, as well as:

-- the latest in my handicapped parking tag saga

-- remembering the time I was on the front page of the New York Times without makeup

-- I went a little too hard on editing a pic of myself for a news article

  • 295 - I Am About to Get Banned (Again)
    May 6 2026

Another institution has pushed me to my limit, and I fear I am about to go back into my villain era. I also share some reflections about whether there are any funny female standup comics.

  • 294 - God Told Me to Tell You This
    Apr 29 2026

I didn't think I could do an episode this week, but then I felt moved to share something with you. So I pushed through, and I'm glad I did! In this episode I give you a reality check about your fears. We also talk about:

-- the weekly update about how cancer treatments are going

-- why Catholics are no longer leaders in the arts

-- why extreme low self esteem can look like narcissism

The quote from Marion Fernandez Cueto, told to her by a priest, is: "The Catholic Church is clear about what constitutes sin: Every failure to love. But the positive, the Church leaves wide open. God wants us to be free to use all our intelligence and our gifts to follow where he's calling us. The Church should be the place of the greatest possible experience of true freedom."
