Do you have everything you're supposed to want, but still feel like something is missing? You're not broken. You've just been looking in the wrong place.

I'm Russell Davis, therapist and executive coach. In Clarity Within, I help ambitious people reconnect with their innate confidence, find genuine clarity and purpose, and build a life that feels as good on the inside as it looks on the outside.

I know this territory firsthand. After years of striving, and an eight-year fertility journey that brought me to a breaking point, I discovered that clarity and confidence aren't things you earn. They already live within you.

Each episode explores honest conversations and real insights that create lasting change. Not tools or techniques. Just a deeper understanding of who you are and what you're truly capable of.

The search is over. It starts within.

  • How to be more present
    Jul 7 2026

Why do so many ambitious, driven people struggle to feel present with the ones they love most?

I remember my wife telling me she felt lonely in our relationship. Not because I wasn't there. I was. But my head wasn't. I was constantly solving problems, chasing the next promotion, the next pay rise, trying to prove I was good enough. In this episode I explore why so much ambition is actually fear in disguise (fear of not being safe, fear of rejection) and how that fear keeps our minds time traveling between past and future, never landing in the present moment.

I share what I've learned about the difference between a busy, problem solving mind and a quiet one, and why you cannot listen and think at the same time. The people we love aren't craving our solutions or our success. They're craving our presence. A quiet mind, real understanding, and the simple experience of being heard.

If you've ever been told you're "in your head" too much, or you sense the people you love want more of you than your achievements, this episode will change how you show up for them.

  • Why Getting What You Want Doesn't Make You Happy
    Jul 14 2026

I once got a 25% pay rise. It felt euphoric. Within weeks, that feeling was gone.

There's research on lottery winners showing the same thing: happiness spikes, then drops right back to where it started. In this episode I ask why success, whether it's a pay rise, a promotion, or a goal you've worked years for, so often fails to give us lasting happiness. I share the old story of the Chinese farmer whose horse ran away, and how "good" and "bad" are really just judgments we place on events.

I also tell you about a violin competition I entered as a teenager, where I played the same piece twice with wildly different results, once with no pressure and once with everything to prove. That contrast taught me the difference between success as a place to get to (outside in) and success as a place to come from (inside out).

If you've ever achieved something you wanted and still felt a little hollow, this episode explains why, and what to do instead.

  • What Stress Is Really Telling You
    Jun 30 2026

We used to think illness was caused by bad smells in the air. Doctors who questioned that were dismissed, even discredited. Then germ theory changed everything.

I think something similar is happening with stress.

Most of us believe, without really questioning it, that stress comes from situations: the demanding boss, the difficult relationship, the impossible workload. If that's true, the only way to feel better is to change the circumstances. And when you can't, you feel trapped.

In this episode, I want to offer a different way of seeing it. One that doesn't remove the difficulty but completely changes your relationship to it.

Nothing outside you can make you feel anything. Your experience is created from the inside out, always. When you really begin to see that, the stress doesn't necessarily disappear, but your relationship to it does. And that's where the possibility lives.
