In the autumn of 2004, on a dead-end road called Sycamore Run in rural Tennessee, my great-aunt Edie discovered something wrong with the oak tree in her front yard. It started with the leaves in July — they were the colour of November, brown and curled before their time. Then she found the names carved into the bark, each one dated to a year of a family death. But the last name was not yet carved — it was written in sap, fresh and wet — and it was her own. Before she could tell anyone, the tree began to change. By October, the bark was soft and pulpy, and the roots had started to creep through the floorboards of her house. I arrived on the first day of November, too late to help, but just in time to see what the tree had become. #FexingoHorror #HorrorPodcast #SycamoreRun #Tennessee #FamilyTree #OakTree #GreatAuntEdie #SapWriting #NamesInBark #RuralHorror #TreeHorror #AutumnHorror #HumanRoots #FleshAndBark #RootsInFloorboards #NoEscape #SlowBurnHorror #LunaNarrates Keep every episode free: buymeacoffee.com/fexingo
