  • Episode 0078 Share Your Story: Maksym Chikin
    Jul 7 2026

This week the guys do something a little less entrepreneurship related and have an incredible interview with Maksym (“Max”) Chikin, a Ukrainian immigrant who moved to Mississippi at age 17 to reunite with family. He recounts the difficulties of navigating American culture and the English language in a rural setting, especially while facing a four-year delay in his career due to COVID-19 and immigration paperwork.

As a finance major, Chikin offers a pragmatic perspective on the geopolitical conflict between Russia and Ukraine, attributing much of the tension to oil interests and systemic corruption. He contrasts the individualistic mentality of Eastern Europe with the charitable community spirit he has observed in the American South. Ultimately, Chikin expresses a desire to build a professional life in financial analytics within the United States rather than returning to his war-torn homeland.

Want to hear about the current Ukraine/Russia conflict from the perspective of someone who was actually born and raised there? Want to hear about the American South from the perspective of someone that moved here as a teenager and unable to speak the language? Then this is your episode! Special thanks to Max for getting behind the mic with the guys and sharing his amazing story!

They explore practical dilemmas, such as the decision to open on Sundays and the ethical responsibility of ministering to employees through fair treatment and humility. The dialogue highlights the importance of defining success through personal reflection and the pursuit of inner peace rather than just financial gain.

Do you ever find yourself thinking about these things as a small business owner? If so, check out this episode on the podcast player of your choice!

  • Episode 0076 Share Your Story: Garrett Rouse
    Apr 28 2026

This week the guys have an amazing interview with special guest Garrett Rouse, an entrepreneur who shares his transformative journey from incarceration to starting a recovery-focused business. After receiving a 24-year sentence for drug-related charges, Rouse describes the harsh realities of Parchman Prison and how accidentally stepping on a psychology book sparked a profound shift in his perspective.

He eventually found purpose by teaching re-entry classes and serving as a peer support specialist upon his release. Rouse is now launching an accountability app that uses AI and facial recognition to provide third-party drug testing for individuals in recovery. This technology aims to preserve healthy relationships by removing the need for loved ones to act as "probation officers."

The discussion highlights how personal suffering can be converted into meaningful growth and innovative solutions for the entrepreneurial journey. Want to feel truly inspired today? If so, this is an episode you don’t want to miss! Be sure to check it out on the podcast player of your choice.

A HUGE and SINCERE thanks to Garrett for sharing his powerful story!
