  • Ep 40 - The Secret in Derryraghan - The Murder of Gerry McGinley
    Apr 29 2026
“Near the border, a man vanished — and the story left behind began to shift.” In August 2000, Gerry McGinley disappeared from his home. At first, there was an explanation: he had left suddenly, afraid that someone was trying to set him up. But Gerry’s absence did not settle into an ordinary missing person case. The longer he remained gone, the more questions gathered around the life he had left behind — a strained marriage, private loyalties, old suspicions, and people whose accounts did not sit esily together. As police began to follow the threads, the case moved between Northern Ireland and the Republic, drawing in family, business connections, and a story that became harder to believe the closer it was examined. This week, the Archive examines the disappearance and murder of Gerry McGinley — a case shaped by secrecy, suspicion, and the uneasy spaces between what was said, what was hidden, and what could finally be proved. Some people disappear into distance. Others are made to disappear by those closest to them. • Ep 39 - The Meon Hill Murder of Charles Walton (w/ Fauna Blakewell)
    Apr 22 2026

“In a Warwickshire field at the end of winter, an old man was found dead — and the story around him would grow darker with every retelling.”

On 14 February 1945, 74-year-old farm labourer Charles Walton was discovered on Meon Hill, near the village of Lower Quinton. The violence was shocking for its setting: rural, familiar, close-knit.

Wartime Britain was nearing victory abroad — yet in this quiet corner of England, a murder unfolded that would outlive generations. The case drew national attention, and among those brought in was famed detective Chief Inspector Robert Fabian.

In the years that followed, rumours of witchcraft, ritual, and ancient grudges began to attach themselves to the case, sometimes obscuring the simpler question at its heart: who killed Charles Walton, and why?

This week, joined by researcher, writer and pagan wise woman Fauna Blakewell, the Archive returns to Meon Hill — separating folklore from fact, tracing the enquiry, and examining how mystery grows where certainty never arrives.

Some cases gather stories as the years pass. The Archive goes back to where it began.

  • Ep 38 - Limbs in the Loch - The Barry Wallace Murder
    Apr 15 2026
“In the still waters of Loch Lomond, something surfaced that no one was meant to find.” In December 1999, a passer-by walking near the loch made a discovery that would unsettle Scotland. Human remains — severed limbs — had been left in the water, concealed but not gone. What followed was a painstaking investigation to identify the victim, reconstruct the final hours, and determine who had gone to such lengths to dispose of a body piece by piece. The victim was 18-year-old Barry Wallace, last seen in Glasgow. The case would become defined by recovery sites, forensic reconstruction, and the slow, methodical work of turning fragments into a timeline. This week, the Archive traces a story of concealment — where water carried evidence to the surface, and where the truth refused to stay submerged. Even in deep water, the truth has a way of rising.
