  • E72: Choose Contentment Over Comparison, Reflections on Kathie Gwilliam
    Jun 16 2026
We’ve all seen – or experienced – times when comparison created division between people. When this happens, it keeps us from being the best version of ourself and moves us away from the results we want. In this episode, Amy and Mark share their thoughts about our conversation last week with Kathie Gwilliam, who has studied and speaks on the dangers of unhealthy comparison. We share our personal perspectives of times when comparison got in our way at work and at home, as well as some ideas you can implement to move away from unhealthy comparison. In this episode, you’ll hear: • The red flags you can expect to see when comparison starts getting in the way. • How our expectations often make comparison more challenging, personally and professionally. • Ideas for workplaces to change the way they talk about performance to reduce unhealthy comparison and recognize individuals. Comparison will happen, but it doesn’t have to diminish people. We love the phrase Kathie used that “conceit is comparison, but recognition is confidence.” Join us in helping us get past unhealthy comparison to seeing the value in each person. We’d love to hear how you will apply these principles in your life. Share in the comments section. Kathie Gwilliam is an author, motivational speaker, and host of the Project Confidence podcast. She helps individuals and organizations overcome the damaging effects of comparison so they can build confidence, connection, and compassion through her SOAR method and AIR principles. • E71: The Cost of Comparison with Kathie Gwilliam
    Jun 15 2026
We make comparisons all the time. It’s completely natural. But when we use comparison to make ourselves better than or less than others, comparison is dangerous and costly. On this episode of Infuse Compassion, we talk with Kathie Gwilliam about the research she has done on the cost of comparison and how to compare in more healthy, productive ways. Listen in to learn: • How our choices can keep comparison from making us vain or bitter, which drives wedges between us and others. • A four-step process that helps us recognize when we’re comparing ourselves to others and respond in a more productive way. • The impact of the words we use at work and home to either promote or diminish unhealthy comparison. • Ways to see the value in everyone without creating unhealthy comparisons. Whether you’re a parent, teacher, leader, or team member, this episode will help you create stronger relationships that reinforce confidence and the value of each individual.
