Dr. Hall reviews a litany of things in US culture that reflect a moral decline. As he addresses these things he repeatedly asks the question, “Who’s fault,Him is it?” He points out that more and more thoughtful commentators say the fault lies with the churches of America. Many of the cultural shifts in America that have led to churches losing their cultural traction are reviewed and analyzed. It is pointed out that some do not blame religious leaders for the failures of their churches and the retreat from American life but see those changes as a slow cumulative cultural shift. Others, including Dr. Hall, blame church leaders for much of the moral decline in America. The podcast concludes with Dr. Hall adamantly stating, “The future for the Christian church and believers is not hopeless. Although the Bible discourages legal action in courts 82% of evangelical leaders do not believe that the Bible forbids Christians from suing each other. This speech was given by Eric Church, a country music artist and songwriter who grew up in North Carolina and has received many awards for his music. In this speech Eric Church uses his guitar as a metaphor to talk about six strings of life. Dr. Hall takes the liberty to expand on Eric Church’s metaphor through a scriptural perspective. He goes on to talk about the many things that reflect the deterioration of morality in the United States. From drug use, to marijuana use, to pornography, to abortion, to transgenderism, to sex trafficking, the US leads the world. Dr. Hall points out that just as God provided an ark for Noah before the flood and rescued Lot before destroying Sodom, He promises to protect His followers in times of wrath. The phrase, “Your direction, not your intention, determines your destination” is explained.
