About this listen

In Zombies, the absurdity of both life and death are on full display as the best and brightest of a high school prep school become tragically addicted to the latest drug craze - electric shocks from cardiac defibrillators.

Funny, caustic, bizarre, poignant - this story represents everything listeners have come to love and expect from Chuck Palahniuk.

Critic reviews

"Palahniuk is in sublime, caustic form; his story subjects even more wickedly bold." ( Independent)
"Savage, disturbing and frequently hilarious, this is writing at its boldest." ( Grazia)

It's silly, but knowing you can't shock someone with a modern defibrillator unless they have an abnormal heart rhythm annoys me as it's sort of key to this story. That said, it still has a lot of classic Chuck witticisms so it is amusing to listen to all the same. It is also free and less than 30 minutes long, so if you're curious, don't read the reviews just have a listen as it won't take much of your time.

Not Chuck's best... lucky it's short and sweet.

The story, such as it is, is good...but I can't believe this 26 minute story is being sold for 1 credit. It's even less than that because there's a summary at the beginning. Unbelievable...

26 mins for 1 credit?!
