Based in the UK I'd like to think this is less likely to happen but this book highlights you never know. The book catalogues many of the things / scenarios that could find you wrongfully sent to prison, both interesting and terrifying.

Started listening and have been gripped from the first line.
It’s shocking/scary/fascinating to realise how easy it is to fall into a legal trap. Whilst this is based in the US it doesn’t take much imagination to see how similar things could happen in the UK.

The explanations of the human factors which are at play in many of these cases is a great use of scientific theory to support lived experience. Insightful and engaging, fantastic storytelling.

It could be you, or me. That was the enduring message from this extraordinary and brilliant book about miscarriages of justice: how anyone could get caught up in a system that is not fit for purpose. Justin brooks tells the heart-rending stories of many of his clients with the California Innocence Project. who have served more years in prison than it is possible to bear - let alone imagine - for crimes they did not commit. He draws conclusions and offers remedies. It’s shocking and intimate in equal measure and should be required reading for anyone involved or interested in the law. Actually anyone. Because any one of us could suffer a similar fate. Well read by the author too!
