I hope since our chat he thinks I'm normal . . . I told him that I was several times.

Deep in Essex and her own thoughts, Sophie had a feeling something was going to happen and then it did. Chris has entered the pub and re-entered her life. Just as she's finally stopped thinking about him. Now Sophie has a chance at creating a happier ending and paying off her emotional debts (if not her financial ones). All she has to do is act exactly like a normal person and not say any of her inner monologue out loud. If she can suppress her light paranoia and pathological lying, maybe she'll even end up getting the guy she wants?

If you are a fan of Sara, you can't go wrong with this book. It's funny, relatable and realistic. Oh, and as side note it's helped me to re-evaluate my entire decision making process...

Terrifyingly relatable

I really like Sara Pascoe and have read her previous books, seen her live etc - she’s great. this book is very sara pascoe’s voice so in that sense i enjoyed it enough to get to the end, although i do find very introspective narration a bit annoying as its too much like being in my head which i’m trying to drown out by reading a book, (same reason why i’ll probably never finish Ducks Newburyport (which audible won’t let me return!!)) and the characterisation was good, but on the other hand there was very little development for any of them, needs more of an arc, so it was quite dull. I’m still a massive SP fan i think this was a v good first novel and i’d definitely read the second.

I loved the characters. It was sad, funny and just brilliant. Sophie's internal monologue was so truthful and made you love her and want to give her a hug sometimes.

Loved it!
