It should have been a case like any other: a missing princess, a king willing to pay in gold for her return. But before he realizes it, private investigator Eddie LaCrosse, a slightly shopworn sword jockey with a talent for discretion and detection, is swept up in a web of mystery and deceit involving a brutally murdered royal heir, a queen accused of an unspeakable crime, and the tragic past he thought he'd left behind.©2007 Alex Bledsoe (P)2009 Blackstone Audio, Inc. I didn’t know what to expect but I enjoyed the story and look forward to reading more from this author.

Positive surprise

Its a very strange mix of fantasy and gumshoe, it has loads of references which should sound stupid but actually don't. Its a well thought out plot with good characters. The weirdness needed a great narrator to pull it off and Rudnicki gives a masterclass. Lots of fun .....

Weird but good!

Great detective story, better than the description lead me to think it would be. Only found it because it was in my ‘recommended for you’ list. Thank you

Great ending, surprisingly good

I wasn’t keen on the narration because the narrator had a really deep and very American accent and I was visualising something medieval so it took a bit of adjusting to. All in all an odd listen but enjoyable.

Weird story, a cross between Neil Gaiman and a medieval whodunnit

Good series of books, book 3 more sad. Book 4 good ending but book 5 seems OK. Was good when part of audible membership but 8hrs a bit short for £7.99 or 1 credit, though there are 4-5 hours books here.
Complex characters and reasonable fleshed out. Interesting old style cop and action and adventure

Good series and story
