A bit too juvenile and naive for my taste. Immature characters and misunderstandings abound. The banter didn't raise a chuckle as it's too flippant and obvious.

I get that Pru is shy but seriously no person can be soo timid. I mean she is 25 and can't even say no to her mother. I mean she is portrayed as clever and witty when she was not overwhelmed. I can think of any number of ways she can get away from her mother. She is of age she doesn't even need the mother to agree to anything.

These books are fresh and gentle, with the right amount of humour. I like the author and the narrator is great.

I lost the plot with Prue as sweet as she is, shy slip of a girl who came into herself with the aid of Camden, do I pushed on through.

Still the mother was just too tiring and exacting, hence when the devious cousin entered the fray, I gave up and went straight to the final chapter, life is just to short for such prevarications and machinations.

As for the narrator, she was just too ebullient for such a longsuffering slog of a story

I wanted to like the book, I gave it a good shot but just couldn’t get far enough to stay. Like the two reviews before this mentioned, the characters were a let down, especially the heroine. It’s almost as if she revelled in her shortcomings which I couldn’t find endearing and it was all starting to chafe.
