I loved this book when I was younger and listening to it again is just as great as the first time. Eva Ibbotson Creates such gruesome but loveable characters! Prunella Scales has a wonderful voice and brings the characters to life. Brilliant for listening while doing other boring things like tidying up!

Imaginative, funny and cozy ghost story. Great narrator, too. I read a few books by Eva Ibbotson and I love all of them. Great bedtime stories, as you can be sure they all end well.

We had one of those hideous M25 journeys - 2hrs turned into 5 and a half hours - bumper to bumper in driving rain.

My two boys (aged 5 and 7) listened to this story straight through, with delighted giggles at the yucky bits. Thank god we had it!! Other wise the journey would've been 100 times more horrible.

This story was an absolute delight! The perfect mixture of haunted and heartwarming. It is beautifully read by Prunella Scales with a very comforting voice. I could practically recommend it just for her performance. The story is very sweet and particularly good for children or nostalgic adults. The message is very touching, especially when you know a little bit about the authors life. This is the perfect book to get into the Halloween spirit!
