After the charming billionaire and I successfully play matchmaker, he asks me to be his fake fiancée. Saying yes might be the biggest slip-up of my life, but what are friends for?

Weston Calloway is the last man I imagined meeting after one of my boring breakups. But there he was, in a dive bar, drinking cheap whiskey, looking like my next favorite mistake. Instead of hooking up, we become secret friends.

When his jealous ex stirs up unnecessary drama, Weston asks me to go public with our friendship, but things quickly escalate and we lose control of the situation. Now, we're roommates, and I'm wearing a diamond ring that he slipped on my finger.

This game may be fun, but we agreed to one unbreakable rule—no falling in love.

Easy, right? It should be.

The Friend Situation is a billionaire, fake dating rom-com with a happily ever after! It’s a stand-alone with open-door scenes. Included: a rich AF, respectful hero who falls first and hard but isn’t afraid to call his bestie mine.

It is great being back in Lyra Parish’s “Billionaire Situation” world again for another wonderful romance novel, a charming friends-to-lover romantic comedy that captivates your attention and tugs at your heartstrings the entire time. After loving the first book, ”The Wife Situation”, Easton Calloway and Lexi’s story, I was not sure how she was going to top that, but she did, and then some. This book is Weston Calloway and Carlee Jolly’s story, written as a standalone, but characters from the first book crossover into this book and knowing their backstories add some depth and there are mentions of some of those character’s storylines. That said, the author’s descriptive details include everything you need to know so you will not feel lost or like you missed something if you are new to the series. Weston is not as grumpy as his twin brother, Easton, but the two share a special bond and similarities, so much so they fill in as one another, sometimes to prank, other times to test how well the person knows them. He and Carlee became good friends while on their joint mission of helping Easton and Lexi’s fake relationship/marriage of convenience turn real. Neither Weston nor Carlee were looking for their own relationship, since he just got out of a terrible marriage, which left him with trust issues, and she had her own reasons. Except there was an undeniable chemistry between them and even with excuses, they could deny themselves for so long. When his wife shows her ugly ways again, he was told once again to have his own fake relationship to rid of her and Carlee volunteers, despite Weston not wanting to ask her. He did not want to cross lines and jeopardize the friendship. I thought those two were great together and for each other. I loved all the layers of this story and how it all played out, with the perfect balance of drama, a touch of angst, charming humor and wit, heartfelt emotions and steamy romance. As always, the writing, plot and world building are fantastic, as are the character growth and development. Lyra Parish, thank you for another fabulous story and emotional rollercoaster ride.

Savannah Thomas and Marcio Catalano delivered a fabulous performance, bringing these characters to life naturally, humanizing them and giving each a voice that is fitting. I loved how they took each role and made it their own, sounding convincing in each and just as I imagined the characters to sound. Catalano’s Weston was a spot on portrayal, showcasing his personality perfectly, and Thomas did the same as Carlee and was equally amazing. With perfect pacing and tone, they captured every emotion of the characters, making you feel it all. These two made a great team, with voices and talent that complement each and a captivating performance that rivets you to the story. They are entertaining storytellers and a pleasure to listen to.

The Friend Situation is the sizzling second installment in the Billionaire Situation series. After devouring book one, I couldn’t wait to dive into Weston’s story—and it did not disappoint.

Weston and Carlee were perfect together. Their relationship began with a genuine friendship, and watching it evolve into something deeper was heartwarming. Weston’s adoration for Carlee was palpable, but he was careful and patient, knowing that rushing things might push her away. Their transition from friends to lovers felt effortless and authentic—you could just feel that they were meant to be.

The chemistry between them was off the charts. The romance was tender and swoony, but the steam? Scorching hot 🔥. It struck the perfect balance between sweet and sexy.

The story itself was addictive, with a smooth, captivating flow that kept me hooked from start to finish. The side characters added so much charm and support, enriching the narrative without stealing the spotlight.

This novel was everything I love in a romance: spicy, sweet, funny, and full of heart. I adored every moment and would definitely recommend it.

“The Friend Situation” by Lyra Parish is the second book in the “Billionaire Situation” series and follows the story of Weston and Carlee.
Even if it is a standalone, I would recommend reading “The Wife Situation” first. It also interconnects with the “Very Merry” series as Carlee is a Jolly from Merryville.

The main tropes of the book are:
💍Billionaire
💍Secret friends to lovers.
💍Slow Burn
💍Reformed playboy
💍Sassy heroine
💍He falls first
💍No 3rd act break-up
💍Small-town girl & city boy
💍Family saga
💍Romantic comedy

I was looking forward to this book since I finished Easton and Lexi’s story last year. And the wait was worth it. This became my favorite book from Lyra.

Weston and Carlee were made for each other and you can feel that in every interaction they have. I could have read another book with them just talking and flirting. After being “secret friends” for almost a year and playing matchmakers for Easton and Lexi, they got to know each other very well.

They both have issues from previous relationships that took time to heal. I liked the build of the relationship between them, there was a lot of tension and the chemistry was very high. Weston was patient and waited until Carlee was ready. There was a slow burn that turned really spicy.

The audiobook narrators are great and made the reread so entertaining.
Even if it is dual style narration, both did a good job with all the characters.
I like that there is the same male narrator (as Easton and Weston ate twins) but a different female narrator. This the is the first time I listen to a book narrated by Savannah Thomas, but she is perfect as Carlee and I’ll listen to other audiobooks narrated by her.
