6 Stars. This. Was. Incredible. Full disclosure this is the first book I've read in this series, but I don't feel like I'm missing anything. This completely hooked me in from page one and not only did I fall completely in love with Dean but Cat...strong, special, wonderful Cat. The relationship dynamic had me sucked in as well as the secrets and cliques. I'm obsessed about finding out who The Spy is, I want to read every little thing this author has wrote until it comes out and I officially have a new obsession. So thanks for that I guess.

This series is action packed and thrilling. Sophie writes such detailed stories. Each of these can be standalone but they’re so much better in sequence. You’re going to want to hear them all!

The start of the school year is shocking for Cat but if she wants her secret kept she will need to do anything Dean wants her to. And he has her do so much as if to see if he can break her spirit. But Cat is stronger than even maybe she knew. Both of these two find so much more in each other than they thought when Dean’s demands lead them to getting his sexual demands met by the innocent Cat. What ends up happening is they grow a bond keeping her secret and finding new experiences with one another. But emotions are high and in schools there are always going to be petty jealous people who will try breaking another’s spirit. Cat has a mean girl who has it out for her and it goes on throughout the story.

Cat is becoming better at sleuthing and finding things out. Yet sometimes things are better left buried, or so Dean thinks when she tells him some things about his family. But Dean was so not ready for it and lashes out. Thankfully he has someone to go to, to work out his feelings with, in the new defence teacher. A retired professional boxer Snow.

There’s other things that are happening in the background with one of the students and the librarian and I’m sure we are going to find out more in the next book.

This world that Sophie has created is full of twists and turns and suspense. With elements of bully romance that I have come to love. Can’t wait for more from this author.

Lilly has us wanting to help Cat, at times giving her strength to deal with her bullies and times to hug her for all she keeps hidden and needs to keep there. She shows us Cat’s compassion as she tries to help other’s and her strength when dealing with things head on.

Gregory Salinas has the voice that was made for Dean. Showcasing his smooth don’t give a damn attitude as well as hidden caring for Cat.

The times Antonio popped as the spy has me needing to hear more about what he plans to do and to whom?

This is the third book in this series and this maybe my favorite yet. Dean was a character that I loathed in the first book but gradually this character has gotten better and better. Cat was a character I rooted for from the beginning of the second book she is in a place she should not be and has been forced to do the unthinkable to save her sister. Dean knows her secret and blackmails her to do everything he says. But what starts at hate for Cat turns and Dean also starts to have feelings and changes for the better with Cat by his side. This book also is a set up to the next book in the series which I can’t wait to listen to. Antonio Turner, Gregory Salinas, and Lily Drake do an amazing job narrating this story.

Sophie Lark pens another brilliant novel set in her “Kingmakers” world and this third installment brings us Cat and Dean’s story. This book picks after the second book ended and with the start of a new school year at the Kingmakers academy. Catalina “Cat” Romero’s sister Zoe is not returning, so she is on her own, but she is nothing like the girl she was when she first stepped onto the island as a freshman a year earlier. A lot went on in her first year at the academy and she grew so much as a person. And without getting into details, she pulled off something big, and she thought she got away with it scot free. Unfortunately, one person found about it and he is blackmailing her and making her do his bidding. Dean Yenin is a bully thru and thru, he has Cat right where he wants her, at his mercy. Cat knows he got her, but she will not let him break her. When Dean changes the rules to their arrangement, he was not expecting to fall for her and he does not realize how much until he loses her. It was great to watch Dean grow into his own and stop the hate and self loathing. A new instructor, Snow, helps him direct his anger to where he should direct it, in the ring. I loved how everything played out in this brilliantly plotted story, also loving the originality of it and the phenomenal world building and character growth. I highly recommend this book and the series. Sophie Lark will not only blow your mind, she will hold it hostage too because once you start the book you will not want to put it down because you need to know what happens next. Thank you for another brilliant story and the emotional rollercoaster ride.

They had a complete understanding of the characters they portrayed, giving each a voice that suited that character’s persona, sounding believable and natural in every role they played. They set the perfect tone for the story, captured all the character’s emotions and projected them into their performance, having you feel every single one. These entertaining storytellers are a pleasure to listen to and their performance enhances the story to another level of greatness. Thank you for another exceptional listen.
