At times, I wondered where the story would go but I'm glad I continued to learn the outcome. Not my usual genre but enjoyable and the narrator made the book more enjoyable to me.

The narrator does a good job but the story is slightly boring. I didn't expect too much when I paid for it in the first place so i'm not surprised. It's alright to have on in the background

Nicole Lewis's narration is the best Audible performance I've yet encountered. All characters easily distinguishable and so well read that the thought provoking story plays likes a box set in your mind's eye.

Original, bitingly satirical and moving, this novel is entertaining and well written with a cast of interesting characters whose lives are entwined via believable coincidences. At the heart of the story is a thoughtful, razor sharp portrait of white privilege and prejudice, but the easygoing third person narration means you feel utterly enlightened and educated without even realising it - only the best books can deliver a gripping and interesting plot that's also woven through with the most astute observations about our society today. Even the less likeable characters are sympathetic and intriguing, their motivations and biases explored and exposed in the cleverest ways. I love that I could get to know these people and question my own opinions, and really enter another world, without some of the heavy and clunky prose that can often accompanies books that tackle important issues.

This book explores romantic relationships and jealousy, regret and pain, but it doesn't centre on a romance fiction arc. However if, like me, you're a fan of women's romantic fiction but can count on one hand the authors who convey real depth and emotion, this book will be welcome soul-food for you! The central protagonist is wonderful to 'spend time with' and go on a journey with, and you will be cheering for her from the first, dramatic and infuriating chapters.
