Strange occurrences stir up a sleepy town in Louisiana. Amanda, the bookworm bachelorette, finds an ancient tome in the thrift shop. A novel? A biography? Hard to even describe it, but she is drawn to it, like it was a magnet, and finds it harder and harder to distinguish the reality of the book from her own.

Meanwhile, a dark couple appears, jacking up the quiet streets of the University town. They are free and unstoppable, with their tattoos emitting an unearthly purple glow.
