A very sombre, atmospheric experience sprinkled with genuine triumph and joy. The actual selection and performances are great - look at the cast (!), but one has to be in the right mood in order to get the most out of listening.

The human experience in verse

I bought this on this on a whim. Expecting to hate it and have to send it back, but I so enjoyed it. I was disappointed when it was over.

I have to confess that I do not normally listen to poetry, but this is so well read, by great actresses and actors. There is a mix of all the well-known poems and many that I had not heard of. But none of them were too long, some were funny and some sad. A real pick and mix. Something in here for everyone, whether like me you never listen to poetry, or whether you regularly listen to poetry.

There was very little music though - so be warned.

Recommended.

Great Poetry Not Much Music.

A major trip down memory lane, particularly when one has exceeded three score years and ten.
