I cannot understand why an American reader was chosen, her attempts at regional accents are hopeless and her mispronunciation of English words in the mouths of English characters are irritating. In this book La Costa ended up as La Coaster.

These stories are entertaining, and both the characters and the period are quite vividly described. The narration, however is very poor, with bizarre pronunciation of many words, and a weak attempt at an English accent, let alone any others. It’s hard not to be distracted and irritated by this. I thought the narrator of the first few books in the series was bad, with her dreadful attempts at, for example, a Welsh accent; but Bernadette Dunne is no better.

This is a great third book in the Daisy Dalrymple mystery, fun and excitement along the way. Read brilliantly by Bernadette Dunne.

Recently tried this author because of inclusion in Audible plus. I'm a Christie fan and these are not in that league. Listened to them while doing housework and did take my mind off that. I have to agree with other reviews that the narration spoilt the listening. In some ways the narrator was good in tone and distinguishing characters but the pronunciation of some of the words was dire. Trying too hard Maybe? I don't think it was American pronunciation just a really bad attempt at trying to pronounce UK English. The stories are light listening if you can refrain from whincing at cawfee, marmalard and parsage amongst others.

I know people have commented on the narrator but I think she’s got a lovely voice that fits with the period it’s set in thanks
