I was in a bit of a slump, so I did what I often do and headed to see what I had not yet read by Kel Carpenter 😂!
Of course, I was not let down. This is a standalone, and it draws you in immediately. Dannika is a shifter who can't shift but does have a wolf! Her and her family, blood and found, have been through alot! Even with her trauma, she's fiesty, funny, and most comfortable in comfy clothes (I can relate to that lol). Danni is so easy to relate to and like!
When things go sideways at the start of the book, she is thrown into the path of Elias, our vampire MMC, oh and did I mention he is a king! We start out with a deal that benefits both giving us forced proximity, one bed, a fake relationship, and lots of banter/flirting. Elias is a perfect MMC, lethal, flawed, sometimes clueless lol, hot, dirty mouthed vampire.
It's also a journey of healing and belonging, Danni's trauma is not brushed off, and I loved watching her grow with some hilarious moments along the way.
The spice is spicing, the found family is perfection, the romance is well rounded and you feel it because it's both a physical but also deep emotional connection between them both. There are also a few ups and downs, misunderstandings (nothing that goes on and on as I can't stand micom tropes 🤣), and our couple get to take some well-earned revenge!
I read the audio, and I HIGHLY recommend it! Teddy Hamilton and Michelle Sparks brought the story to life and made the spice 🔥!!!! The narration was pure perfection.

Romance, Healing, Humour & Found Family, Yes please....

This is a cute romantasy story about a non shifting wolf shifter called Dannika and a Vampire King called Elias. The heart of the story is their love that starts as an arrangement but ends with deep mated love. It’s not too spicy at all, not a lot of sexy scenes but their evolving relationship is cute and romantic. It was a nice read and I’m a sucker for a HEA. It’s defo worth the credit. Love love love Michelle and Teddy’s narration although it’s very secondary character heavy so duet narration with a few more voice actors would have been warranted. It’s still a 5*

Previously read the box set ‘A Demon’s Guide to the Afterlife’ by the same authors. Thought I’d give this a try.Story started off strong, the pace started to flag, a lot.
There wasn’t much emotional development between the two main characters at all. It was mainly about the main female character and her initial fated mate. When it came to the two main characters, a miscommunication plot was overstretched for too many chapters and made the story so annoying that I no longer am interested in finishing the book. Now it seems the two main charge are all about the mate pull and too much blame game going on. The main female character doesn’t even apologise for her part in the miscommunication saga, which gets dragged up too often. It’s hard to like a character without humbleness.
