Summary

Who do our politicians work for? The public, or big business? If you want to understand why British politics isn't working, the first place to start is here.

Parliament Ltd reveals the financial interests that British politicians would rather you didn't hear about. From banks and private corporations, to lobbying and the arms trade, there are MPs making millions by moonlighting in second jobs. Where does their loyalty belong - to us or to their paymasters? Meanwhile - years after the expenses scandal - they are now claiming more than ever before. In his enthralling journey to the dark heart of British politics, Martin Williams exposes a hidden, shocking culture of greed and corruption.

There were times where I literally gasped, laughed, clapped and whinced listening to this.

Exposing the dark heart of politics where morality has been swept away with the brush of business, Martin Williams has done an epic job of proportions revealing how intertwined the British government is with lobbyists, expenses scandals, external business interests with many even relating to human rights abuses. I would definitely want to hear an updated version reflecting the current government in power.

Bravo to Williams - an extremely important read for this generation.

Unbelievable, explosive, mind blowing claims

The narrator was perfect . With a typical narrator who reads stories it would have been hard going. He spoke with just the right tones to show how many of our politicians are just self serving.

A must read for all who vote.

Everyone should read this book. If you thought the media portrayal of the expenses scandal was bad then you don't know the half of it.

Brilliant

A great listen for anyone especially those interested in politics. Equal parts worrying and eye opening.

Brilliant book. I follow politics and am growing in my cynicism of Parliament, of which I am aware is being fuelled by the media. So in a bid to listen and think for myself, I have switched off my TV and began to dig a little deeper. This book is the next layer down. And I encourage everyone in the same boat to use this as a platform to begin to open your eyes. Conscious of course that Martin Williams is a journalist, and so acknowledging this book requires a pinch of salt given my objectives, but nevertheless is a crucial read to better understand the snippets of rage on Question Time, and why many people doggedly chastise MPs.

It has aged a little now, but that is a good thing in my eyes as it forms the basis and historic context to bring myself up to speed.

Insightful for the keen amateur politico
