Summary
An MM Retelling of The Little Mermaid. With dragons.
Merman Jack is a terrible virgin sacrifice. Mostly because he isn’t virginal. At all.
Hopefully the Sea King won’t notice.
For Jack, the human world has too many wonderful temptations, and too many alphas to resist. He only has two months left before he has to give himself to the Sea King, and he doesn’t want to spend them in the cold, dark catacombs where the Mermen of Rixton live. It may be forbidden for Jack to go to shore, but when did that ever stop him?
Peter is a terrible dragon shifter. He can’t figure out what he’s supposed to collect for his hoard. Without his hoard, he can’t do any of the important dragon-shifter things, like take his dragon form or find his fated mate. After years of losing his lovers to their fated mates, Peter’s feeling his age, and he’s tired of being alone.
When Peter sees a beautiful merman on the beach, he thinks he’s finally found his fated mate. Jack falls hard for Peter too, but he knows they can’t be together forever. If Jack doesn’t show up on the day of his sacrifice, the Sea King will kill his father and take his brother instead.
Will the love between a terrible virgin sacrifice and a terrible dragon shifter be enough to change their fate?
Omega from the Ocean is a 77,000-word gritty, age-gap romance with knotting, light D/s, and Mpreg of the dragon-egg variety. While the ending may be an HEA for Jack and Peter, it’s an HFN for the rest of the Mermen of Rixton. Omega from the Ocean is intended for an 18+ audience.

Jack and Peter came such a long way from the people they were at the beginning of this story. When I first met them, Jack had all but given up on seeking freedom for himself and Peter had resigned himself to never having a permanent relationship. Though neither of them knew it at the time, their accidental introduction was the catalyst for a much needed change in each of their lives. Their initial attraction may have been strictly physical, but over time it developed into a much deeper soulmate bond. I bought into their connection wholeheartedly, and though I wasn't completely sold on their Daddy/boy dynamic I was excited enough about their romance to look past it. With an abundance of steamy chemistry and the promise of a lasting relationship, Peter and Jack were easy to root for, and though their time together wasn't always easy, I never gave up hope that they'd find a way to be together.
At times, Peter and Jack did frustrate me with their stupid decisions and poor communication. Neither of them were without their flaws, but that only made them feel more real to me. In a story where the sacrifices these men made had lasting consequences, the impact of every impulsive move or unplanned action was gut-wrenching. I never knew what to expect from the sea king, but time and time again he showed that he was a truly evil being.
Though I can see parallels between this story and the Little Mermaid, Peter and Jack's journey felt as exciting and unexpected as a standalone story. It wasn't just the fact that this story had dragons, bondmates, and dark magic--even the little details about Jack's family and Peter's heritage were unique and captivating. I really enjoyed getting to know Jack, Peter, and their closest friends and family, and I definitely wasn't expecting their adventure to have as much depth as it did. Every character had so much heart and passion, and I couldn't help but love each and every one of them. Whether it was Seahorse's selfless giving, Flounder and Stingray's fierce love, or Peter's moms' eccentricities, they all added so much to the overall storyline. Jack and Peter certainly couldn't have defeated the sea king without the support that rallied around them, and I don't think I would have been so invested had the two of them stayed in a separate bubble away from the rest of the world.
