This to me felt like a book where the author had all these scenes they liked from other books and tried to shoehorn as many in as possible. Not bad as such but some of the scenes felt forced.

This is a story reminiscent of Lord of the Rings which although borrowing from this epic it is done so with love and admiration. It does contain adult themes, violence etc but at its core is heart, family and adventure. I'm also told book 2 and book 3 are even better, so highly recommended

My first audio book from the Fantasy genre. Loved it! It was recommended to me by a friend. Can't believe that it is the author's debut novel, it is so polished and engaging. His descriptions have you 'in the scene' with the characters - a real testimony to his writing talents. Am looking forward to the next book in the series.

This is the first book I have listened to by Ryan
I loved the build up of the different characters,getting to know and understand their flaws and strengths.
Very much looking forward to the next book
