Summary

The leaves are falling.

You can smell that long-dying aroma of Autumn in the air. Kids are talking trick or treat and the leaves are already screaming at you in red and yellow and deep golden rust as they prepare for one final parachute down into the dirt. The tombstones are talking amongst themselves and winter is hiding just around the corner. It is the time of the year when people draw around the wood stove and the campfire and whisper stories of death and omens and ghosts and things that don't even have a name.

These are some of the creepiest October stories that I have ever written.

Well I really enjoyed this book, it is delightful collection of short creepy tales.
The observational descriptive writing by the author Steve Vernon is wonderfully detailed . This, along with the excellent eerie narration of Stephen Wolfe transports the reader into stories, to the point that you actually feel that you are there watching stories slowly unfurl before you.
If you are looking for horrific and gory violence I suggests you look elsewhere as these tales are more ominously sinister, disturbingly direful and descriptively excellent.

nicely narrated set of short stories, each very enjoyable and a little creepy - just what I hoped for. Nicely done all round.

short, sweet and perfect for dark nights

The narration was ok with a creepy kind of voice, he did some ok voices for characters and he did jump to a real redneck accent in one story, It was a little odd to read the introduction to an e-book for an audiobook though they could have at least changed the words.

The stories themselves were ok, sometimes creepy as advertised but with a fair amount of padding, not as many bad descriptions as in his Tatterdemon works but still sometimes you were left waiting for the story to kick in.

A few ok tales

I enjoyed listening to this set of stories, and the narrator chosen was perfect at portraying the creepy feeling.

Some were better than others but at 1.5 hours total I didn’t really mind. A really nice way to pass the time and short enough that it doesn’t drag on, in the way horrors sometimes do.

Please note, I did receive a free copy of this book in return for an unbiased review.

Spooky and fun

Just my sort of book creepy and weird, I downloaded it yesterday, and have listened to it twice today, and I'm sure I'll give it a few more listens.

The narrator has just the right kind of voice for this genre

I'm looking forward to reading more from this author, I'll also be looking out for more by the same narrator
