I'm trying to learn Italian and using many different approaches including 121 classes with a teacher. I find that following Paul's audio works the best for me - I tend to recall well what I learned which I wouldn't say about my other sources of learning. I also easier pick up the correct way of pronouncing things and grammatic rules.
Overall the format is perfect for busy people who have an opportunity here and there to listen, for example, on a walk, whilst doing simple chores, on a plane, on a beach etc. I wish there would be more similar resources from Paul for the same or more advanced listeners, especially to expand vocabulary. You will find that the beginners and this course do not teach you enough words to have normal conversation. That would require many more hours of learning.

I liked the format and not being rushed. It helped that I already knew almost all the vocabulary. I liked the lack of formal grammar.

The key aspect which I like about Paul Noble's language tuition techniques is that they work with the brain's memory and as a result the majority of their content is retained on first listen; whereas, I for one forget most of the content of other language courses. However, I agree with other reviews that there is a lack of clarity of pronunciation at certain times by the Italian lady which meant I had to keep re-listening to those parts.
One other point I wish to share is that personally I really don't like the use of Italianised English words such as "il weekend" rather than "il fine settimana"; Italian is such beautiful language which for me is an important motivation factor to learn it.
