Summary

There are new people on the Green... When old Admiral Trigg and his sister Lucy died, their house - Tullivers - stood empty for many months. Then one bright April day, some discreet onlookers saw a good-looking woman pushing her way through the nettles to the front door. Who was she? Was she on her own? Had she bought the house, and, if so, what kind of a neighbour would she be?

I love to listen to Gwen WatFord's voice. She can transport me directly into a Miss Read village.

Blissful

I can never make up my mind which of the two village series I prefer, I think I’ll call it a draw. I’ve loved the Miss Read books for years and to find them on Audible narrated by such talented people, what a bonus!

Fairacre or Thrush Green

A winter’s morning of snow brought me to the end of this audiobook. As I get older, I appreciate Miss Read’s calm writing more and more. A very gentle book. Lovely.

Narrator has a pleasant voice and tells a warm story within a country setting.

A nostalgic escape.

I love Miss Reads books, like a hug in book form. This one was a lovely gentle meander through the lives of all at Thrush Green. I really feel like I know them all now.

I was a bit disappointed at the end as it didn’t go the way I’d hoped. Silly Harold!

I find the narrator Gwen rather too posh sounding for my liking, i find it makes it harder to follow for me. I prefer June Barrie as a narrator.

A lovely book, very easy to follow
