Unusual companion or not, Damien was still determined to go to a mage college and study magic. He wants nothing more than to live normal life as a researcher, but if Henry’s true nature is revealed, he’ll be killed.

To top it all off, Damien’s teacher is a madman from the front lines of war, his alcoholic dean suspects something is awry with his companion, and Blackmist might possibly be the worst school in history. I was genuinely worried that their wasn't enough time to resolve everything when I reaches book 6 but as you can see from the title I was very satisfied by the conclusion!

I hope you enjoy this series as much as I did

Resolved perfectly!

Do it if you like progressive fantasy and a good story. More story than progression

Under rated

Enjoyed the book, enjoyed the narrator. Good premise, good humour, good amount of action and a finished storyline. Narrator did a good job, I did notice a few bits though where he overdid align where it was described how the character said something, speaking flatly Should have any emotion in it 😂, I'll have no problem reading this series again in the future

Enjoyable Read…, Makes me want to go to university 😂

There were some (three over six books) inconsistencies that I found distracting—some of the facts changed (and sometimes changed back) or seemed to have been introduced off-screen. The characters and the concept itself was great fun and it was fairly light, story-wise, whereas some extra effort into bringing the world, lore and plot together would have (imo) been appreciated. Well, well worth a credit, though, and I would recommend

Loved it but

As the title suggests the main characters (Damien, Sylph and Henry) of the story are pretty damn interesting as are some of the side characters and the plot is fairly decent, even if it lacks meat on the bones as the story progresses.

The ending whilst underwhelming and rushed is satisfying for the characters you care about but does leave a lot of unanswered questions.

I almost feel like this series could have benefitted from a 7th book that dedicated a few chapters to concluding the "side characters stories" as a measly epilogue for a few of the is massively underwhelming.

Overall I had a good time with this series and I would recommend it as a nice little time killer.

Great main characters and plot
