Witty and warm, yet sharpened with just enough bite. (Anna Bonet)

I love these books. Richard is so easy to listen to & his descriptive writing really brings the characters to life.

Another great story.

Enjoyable story, but feel a bit cheated having purchased it thinking it was a full novel like his others. It’s really short!

Really short - didn’t realise it wasn’t a full book

I loved this! It was so well written and reminiscent of the Christmases I experienced in childhood (in some ways) with the added nostalgia of country Christmases and those before I was born. It gave me a huge craving for Bread Sauce so I was thrilled to have the recipe at the end!! It is a novella though, so it's short and some may feel cheated at the price. It's worth it, though, at this time of year - really gets you in the spirit.

A perfect Christmas story

I loved it, a perfect Christmas treat.

As I listened, I felt like this was a personal glimpse into the life of the author on Christmas Day. This is a very lovely tribute to his mother, and her secret bread sauce.

A beautiful tribute to bread sauce

Even with the attendent problem hinted at in the title, my idea of absolute bliss would to be invited to Audrey's Christmas lunch, play with the pooches by the fire, and observe the unfolding story about characters we have come to know and love so well. What a more wonderful way to spend Xmas morning basting the turkey and peeling sprouts than to listen to another winner, read by our dear reverend.

Who wouldn't want to be invited?
