Carol Dweck
Dweck explains why it's not just our abilities and talent that bring us success-but whether we approach them with a fixed or growth mindset. She makes clear why praising intelligence and ability doesn't foster self-esteem and lead to accomplishment, but may actually jeopardize success. With the right mindset, we can motivate our kids and help them to raise their grades, as well as reach our own goals-personal and professional. Dweck reveals what all great parents, teachers, CEOs, and athletes already know: how a simple idea about the brain can create a love of learning and a resilience that is the basis of great accomplishment in every area.

Critic reviews
An utterly compelling story of how the way we think shapes our success. Essential reading for anyone with aspirations (Matthew Syed)
Everyone should read this book (Chip Heath and Dan Heath)
One of the most influential books ever about motivation (Po Bronson)
A good book is one whose advice you believe. A great book is one whose advice you follow. I have found Carol Dweck's work on mindsets invaluable in my own life, and even life-changing in my attitudes toward the challenges that, over the years, become more demanding rather than less. This is a book that can change your life, as its ideas have changed mine (Robert J. Sternberg)
If you manage people or are a parent (which is a form of managing people), drop everything and read Mindset (Guy Kawasaki)
Through clever research studies and engaging writing, Dweck illuminates how our beliefs about our capabilities exert tremendous influence on how we learn and which paths we take in life (Bill Gates)
An essential read for parents, teachers [and] coaches . . . as well as for those who would like to increase their own feelings of success and fulfillment
This is a book that you need to listen to when you have an open mind and listen when you can give it a little bit of concentration.
If you are willing to engage with this book you are highly likely going to benefit from listening to it. Even if you think you know what growth and fixed mindsets are, still listen to this book.
O ne of two things will happen. The first, and in my humble estimation the most likely outcome is that you will realise you did not fully understand the two mindsets. The second, you are a rare and fortunate person who knew about the mindsets and didn't learn a thing. If that's the case I suspect you have a fixed mindset and genuinely believe you have a growth mindset.
Just for the record, I was in the latter category, outcome two, before I read the book. Fortunately for me I listened with an open mind and paid attention to what was said. I'm no longer in denial, now the hard work to change my mindset!!
Well worth a read...
