About this listen

The remnants of the Expeditionary Force stranded on the alien-controlled planet "Paradise" get a chance to prove themselves, in a simple off-world training mission with a ship full of teenage alien cadets.

When the mission goes horribly wrong and the survival of everyone on Paradise is at risk, the Merry Band of Pirates may have to come to the rescue. Unless they get killed first....

Disappointing compared to the earlier books for me . Skippy is one of my favorite book characters and he not in this nearly enough . The mavericks are pretty cool , but seems like the writer is trying to have two bands of merry pirates and it didnt seem to work very well for me . I would much rather of had them explore more about the elder tech !

disappointing

FFS, it's gonna kill me waiting for the next book. I enjoyed this and the other books, I can imagine where the next book is headed, but will still look forward to it's release. I foresee movies or TV show in the future.

Another SCI-FI classic

I'm not sure I've seen the back door pilot device used in a book before, but im sure if I gave it enough thought I could think of a couple.

The main cast take a.back seat for a third of this book while the Mavericks move to centre stage. The story is well told and turns the thrill up a few notches for the soldiers from paradise.

Backdoor Pilot

The middle section was less interesting compared to the rest - skippy being the most engaging character. The writer obviously likes to test the complete range of mr Brays vocal talents in a merciless manner

Very good but not quite as good as earlier
