About this listen
Edinburgh, 1820
Drew Nicol has spent the last three decades avoiding his old home of Edinburgh. It is a feat he has managed rather well—until the Nor'Loch is drained and a monstrous skeleton is found in the mud.
The bones are evidence of werewolves, and Marguerite, the leader of Drew's pack, will not suffer such evidence to fall into the hands of their enemies. She decrees that Drew must return to Edinburgh with her to retrieve the skeleton.
The skeleton is not their only concern. Marguerite is worried that wolf-hunters are circling, and that a long lost member of their pack may be in the hunters' hands. And then there is the small matter of Lindsay Somerville. Lindsay, who taught Drew about desire and obsession. Lindsay, who turned him without his consent, binding him to a fate he never chose. Lindsay who finally swore, twelve years ago, to keep his distance from Drew—and who has since taken drastic measures to try to sever the bond between them, once and for all.
When Marguerite's scheme throws Drew and Lindsay together again, and into the path of Lindsay's most dangerous enemy, Drew is tested to his limits and forced to reckon with his past mistakes. But even if Drew wants to change course, is he too late? Is their bond too damaged to survive?
This is the second and concluding book of the Capital Wolves duology.
©2020 Joanna Chambers (P)2021 Joanna Chambers📚 Master Wolf was Drew’s POV. In comparison to Lindsay, Drew came off as dour and intractable. My interest waned. Then Ms. Chambers pulled the rabbit from the magic hat at the 70% mark - the denouement was so distinctive, the implications of their bond so crystal clear that I gasped!! It made the emotional journey worth it and Lindsay’s sacrifices so gut-wrenching. I detracted a star from the story because the narrative shifts between past and present day didn't disguise a thin plot and Drew's one note characterisation. Regardless, the Capital Wolves Duet was an epic romance with uniquely elegant werewolves and l adored it!!

As to the narration: Hamish McKinleigh could do no wrong. Honestly hands down the best audiobook narrator in my opinion: the accents believable, voices so different for every character that I have no difficulty figuring out who is who. his intonations are perfect and I can hear genuine emotion in his voice for the scenes that require it. I realy hope he does more audiobooks because I could listen to him all day (I do as the matter of fact I finished these books in 2 days).
Amazing ending to a fabulous Duet!
