Summary

Nico Vitale

The girl I fell in love with was ripped from my arms, never to be heard from again.

She was sold to the cruelest man on the planet, Constantine Carbone—my family’s number one enemy.

Over the years, I haven’t stopped looking for Selina.

And then one fateful night, I finally find her.

In a move that will undoubtedly bring war upon my family, I save Selina, killing Constantine’s son in the process.

I soon come to realize that Selina is nothing like the girl I once fell in love with, but none of that matters.

She’s mine.

She’s always been mine.

And when her past comes back to haunt her, threatening to steal her away from me again, I vow to do whatever it takes to keep her safe.

This time I’m not letting her go.

Author's note: Keeping My Girl is Nico Vitale’s story, and although it is a standalone, it would be better enjoyed after listening to Keeping My Bride.

This book is fantastic, the storyline is exciting and intense. I love how the trauma doesn’t define this leading lady. A wonderful performance.

I missed the first book in this series but from this I got a lot of enjoyment. Lina and Nico were childhood friends before Lina disappeared for about a decade and when they get back together it's go fo fo. There's potentially triggering material contained within so be careful. 3.5 stars

I enjoyed this second book of the series featuring the son of the couple from the first book. I liked the friends-to-lovers/second chance romance energy of this one. The main characters met as young teens and while that time in their lives together was unexpectedly short, it was meaningful. When they meet again as adults it’s out of the blue and far from ideal circumstances. I liked how they got a real chance to get to know each other and reestablish their connection. The feelings were certainly simmering under the surface the whole time, but it wasn’t a rush to the physical and I think that’s just what this story and situation called for. Their overall journey to a well-deserved and satisfying ending was a pleasure to listen to. Their narrators were a big part of that pleasure, delivering a great performance. I certainly would be happy to check out more stories by this author or these narrators. And with the way this one ended, it provided a great set up for book three.

5*
Selena was rescued by Nicolas parents from human trafficking.
They have been trying to get Constantine for human trafficking, but he's slippery.
Nicolas and Selena had a tight connection and he was devastated when her mum eventually came for her.
But everything isn't as it seems.
A great story I loved the characters and the storyline.
The narrators were very good.

I'm going to be honest, listening to this book right after finishing Keeping My Bride made me all sorts of weird. 😂
Slight spoiler: It felt weird listening to Nico doing the things he was after just having heard him being a toddler at the end of book 1.
Anyways, I was expecting Nico to be about as ruthless as his father Luca but I didn't get that. Sure he has the whole protective thing going on which I love but thought he would be 'meaner'.
This story was so amazing. Showing trauma like it did and the healing part which a lot of books tend to skip over or not do such a good job of portraying was done really good here.
Love this story and both Nico and Selina.
