Critic reviews

"Some of the wildest and most sustained battles in an action thriller in a long time...non-stop action, lots of explosions--and a little bit of conspiracy." ( Chicago Tribune)

Thoroughly enjoyed this audio book, albeit in a guilty-pleasure kind of way. Reminded me of The Survivalist series.

All action adventure

Brilliant book very well narrated. I have actually read this book years ago. My one downer for the audio version is it doesn’t include the maps and diagrams of the ice station and they change as a story continues. Don’t wanna spoil it would be nice if there was an option to be able to download them because it does help with the story, and with visualising everything in your head, but otherwise a brilliant book hence why I bought the audio version years after reading the physical

Brilliant book, real fast, paced and fun. You just have to switch your mind off

Fantastic writing, fantastic narration but a story far too exaggerated to relate to as a credible action novel. The main character's exploits make James Bond look tame. You'll listen once but you won't dig out in a year and re-listen.

It could have been fantastic....

Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?

Despite the amount of blood and guts that are so chillingly exposed in the ice station, anyone would enjoy this story portraying the classic good guy bad guy theme including a damsel in distress.

Who was your favorite character and why?

It would be cliché to say scarecrow as everyone loves a night in shinning armour. However, he is so well depicted and described that you instantly fall in love and even could wish you were at Wilkes about to be eaten by a killer whale just so he rescues you in his gruff well thought well executed way that defys human capabilities.

Which character – as performed by Sean Mangan – was your favourite?

Sean mangan has a talent for ensuring the listener is transported deep among the action . If I had to pick one character that really stood out, it would be James renshaw. He is well portrayed with a nasal obnoxious tone who questions everything and clearly has never been in his position before. But despite his flaws and potential murdering ability becomes a comic love.

Did you have an emotional reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

There were times where this book will make you giggle, gasp and most definitely wince.
