So the sudden jolt to his gut, when he encounters the blond federal agent he remembers well, is a harsh reminder of what is missing from his life.

Still, as much as they try to avoid each other, they seem destined to cross paths. Whether it is the intimidation of a local predator or the threat of a former nemesis, it becomes clear they stand stronger together.

Wow what a way to end the next generation of high mountain trackers. Not only did it have a great cast of characters but we got to see old favourite couples from the original series. This Author has a knack for keeping you entertained from the first page to the last and this was no exception. The audible narration was fantastic as always. As sad as I am to say goodbye I’m looking forward to whatever this Author writes next.

Ah! Jackson and Stephanie are my new favourite characters, I have loved both the High Mountain Trackers and the 2G series. All the cast members had broken pieces that were healed by finding their soul mate and by being part of the HMT Team and family, but seeing Jackson who suffered and struggled more than most, not only living a positive life but also then using his experiences and struggles to help Stephanie in her time of need....there were tears...so many tears. They struggle with loss, grief, frustration, guilt, their bodies betraying them and fear, but beautifully they find acceptance, love, happiness and most of all HOPE. Hope for a future they once thought was impossible, but one they are now living. This book was emotional when reading it but it has so much more impact when listening on Audible.
I get the impression this is the last book in the 2G series, I will be so sad if we don't get to see any of these amazing characters again...can there be a spinoff? Somewhere local? Or an expansion of the HMT team?
Please, please, please? Anything that allows us to "catch up" with this cast in the future.
