About this listen

Whether weaving family life and history into dark fiction or writing speculative Afrofuturism, American Book Award winner and Essence best-selling author Tananarive Due’s work is both riveting and enlightening. In her debut collection of short fiction, Due takes us to Gracetown, a small Florida town that has both literal and figurative ghost; into future scenarios that seem all too real; and provides empathetic portraits of those whose lives are touched by otherness. Featuring an award-winning novella and 15 stories, Ghost Summer: Stories is sure to both haunt and delight.

Easy 5 stars. From the first story I knew this was something special. Beautifully crafted. Sometimes short stories can leave you feeling like they’re an unfinished idea. Every one of these is complete and rewarding in its own way. Excellent narration too.

Brilliant. Glad to have found this writer!

I really tried to like this book. According to the introduction she’s a good woman. She might even be. i don’t know, I never met her but it also declared her to be a good writer. That i can’t agree with. She’s a lazy writer actually. too full of he said’ and ‘she said’ to be any good. the story, the one I did manage to sit through, was predictable though the note afterwards was interesting enough but not much else about this book really impressed me.

I just didn’t like it

I was looking for spooky stories, this isn’t really that, but they are interesting stories. Lots of short stories, being short, some don’t really have an end, as in, did they or didn’t they? - up to the reader I guess.
I would listen to more of her books.
