Deep below a desolate Utah mountain lies the largest platinum deposit ever discovered. A billion-dollar find, it waits for any company that can drill a world's record, three-mile-deep mine shaft. EarthCore is the company with the technology, the resources, and the guts to go after the mother lode. Young executive Connell Kirkland is the company's driving force, pushing himself and those around him to uncover the massive treasure. But at three miles below the surface, where the rocks are so hot they burn bare skin, something has been waiting for centuries. Waiting...and guarding. Kirkland and EarthCore are about to find out first-hand why this treasure has never been unearthed.

I was put off Scott Sigler's previous books by the readers (himself included), and hope that Ray Porter may sometime read those, as there's no doubt the plots will be very good and well written.
Brilliantly written & read, very entertaining

This version is bloody brilliant, Ray's narration is second to none, the story is mind bendingly good and the suspense is just right.
I'd recommend Mr Sigler's books to anyone!

I started listening to this and thought "nothing much is happening, this doesn't make any sense, I think I'll refund it". Then I checked how long I'd been listening for and it was three and a half hours. I thought it was about 30 minutes.
Well anything that can deceive me that much, deserved continuing. I did. I discovered I pretty much disliked every single character. But I did want to find out what happened. So I kept listening.
And listening.
And then tried to ensure I finished it by the end of the week because I generally listen at work (I'm a driver) and didn't want to wait until the next week to hear the conclusion.
Ray Porter was amazing, as always. He's the only one I've heard do female voices without them sounding comical. I can't comment on the accents, but they sounded fine to me.
The story didn't seem to move at first, but obviously did and set the scene for the later parts of the book. Once it seemed to pick up, it unfurled very well and whilst I disliked pretty much every character, I really wanted to find out what happened to them. Preferably a slow death in some cases. (Not saying they got that!)
Buy it. It's well worth it.
I'll be keeping an eye out for Scott Sigler's stuff too.
Thanks to both Sigler and Porter for an enjoyable 20+ hours.
