About this listen

A hotheaded city boy clashes with a headstrong country girl in the first book of this hot new series from award-winning author Mysti Parker and coauthor MJ Post!

Broken dreams aren't always the pits.

Luke Martelli had one thing going for him: He knew race cars. But he didn't get his thrills behind the wheel. Drivers wanted speed and handling, and he could make that happen. He'd been hours away from working his dream job with a pit crew when a freak accident took that chance away.

Now he works a crap job as a parade float builder in Brooklyn. Then Ellison Carlisle, a rich girl from Kentucky, has the nerve to tell him to accept his fate. What does she know about pain? But damn, she's got the curves to match her smart mouth, and that's a mouth he's having a hard time resisting.

For Ellie, moving to Brooklyn was supposed to be a fresh start. She's homesick, but getting away from painful memories in Lexington is worth the change. Until she meets Luke, the hotheaded city boy who's entirely too sexy for his attitude.

Her track record for boyfriends is 0-for-3. Is it worth the risk to try to break that big chip on Luke's shoulder, or is he another lost cause?

The dual narration of Dana Dae and Brad Hackworth, was perfect.

Luke and Ellie made a great couple. They both had leg injuries that changed their lives. From the day they met they felt like they had found the one, even though they fought it. A wonderful romance. A great characters and lots of fun despite some challenging storylines.

After his accident Luke is not a very happy man until he meets Ellie, who is a very cheerful person despite her past.
I was quickly drawn into this sweet story, it got better and better.

First I’ve read the book, the second time (in audio) I enjoyed the story even more.

Both narrators used different voices for different characters. But I liked Dana Dae a lot better than Brad Hackworth. He had a nice voice but sounded a little flat, without emotion, sometimes.

I enjoyed this sweet story.

This was a great story. I like a good love story and this was a great love story. I did not think Luke was that much of a hot head he was just a little hung up on an injury he got which meant he could not work on the race track. I thought he was a sweetheart and he fell hard and fast for Ellison as did she for him. Not a huge amount happened in the story (action or fighting) but it was nice to listen to how the relationship developed. I rooted for the couple and when it looked like they could be drawn apart I just so wanted them to work it out. The part at the parade was heart breaking and so well done it had me on edge. Dana Dae and Brad Hackworth are new narrators to me but I thought they did such a great job I loved Luke's accent it was very sexy. Ellison was from the south and I loved how she sounded. I enjoyed all aspects of this book.

A great love story
