Bill Bryson is witty, entertaining and thought-provoking and this book is all of those. It's easy to read, makes you laugh out loud and gets the grey matter working. I am from Down Under and it was fun hearing about Australia from a foreigner's perspective. I would thoroughly recommend it.

Awesome book. I have just moved to Australia and listening to this really helped me get into life here. The reader is great, although his impersonations of the Aussie accent could do with some work!

This is an excellent book, witty and entertaining. The only issue with it, is that I know there is a full unabridged version read by the author. However it's not in audible, which is a shame.

Part of me is sad it took until 2020 to discover the literary works of Bill Bryson but part of me is glad because it means once I’ve finished one I can immediacy pick up another.

When I first downloaded Notes from a big country I did so because I thought I would enjoy travel writing about America, a country I love and visit twice a year, however 5 books in, I am now a firm fan and would literally ready about Bill visiting rooms in his own home.... which is handy, because that’s my next book!

I love the Bill Bryson books. My only issue with them relates to others not this one. This is narrated by William Roberts and he is excellent. Unfortunately recent ones have been narrated by the author himself and he just isn't as good
