About this listen

I wasn’t sure what to expect when arriving in Salem.
Forced to marry a man I’ve never met, attend a private university I’d never heard of, and the whispers of a rumored secret society filling the halls.
This life would be near unbearable with my insufferable fiancé if it wasn’t for his uncle, his best friend, and his enemy.
When none of them are willing to let me go, it sends us down a path I’m not sure any of us will survive.
The life I was promised is distorted behind smoke and mirrors. The truth cloaked by Deceit.

Omg. This one was so good and I can’t wait to read the entire series

This series is going to be my new Roman Empire

If you like a dark why choose, this is definitely one for your TBR, there's arranged marraige, enemies to lovers? age gap, professor ish, golden retriever, stalker, morally grey MMC's, and some rather nice spice, with 3 books in the main series so far Rowan and Vincent are my faves but who knows what will happen next - that could all change, and Ash... it just got to the point where I could forgive him for being a cruel arseh@t, he melted me and then that ending! I really hope there is explanation and redemption in that respect in the next book, being a full cast narration on it was great listening, (I'm not sure which narrator does Ash's voice but the low growly tone is yummy), this is quite similar so far to some others I've read/listened to of late (gave me Stutter and Forged in Blood vibes) but different enough that I felt it was a great listen anyway, I'm enjoying the characters and I think the plot is going to get quite a bit bigger in the next couple of books which I'm intrigued to dive straight in to.

First 5 chapters was as we all know it by now… the same old story… hence, I wasn’t too excited from the get go. However there’s a bend in the road here… something I never imagined, however always hope for when I read these types of stories. Something by the name of “exceptional writing”

Gone was my feelings of same ol’ same ol’ and yada yada … all -of- a- sudden like a little hocus pocus and moon-dust were sprinkled and the story becomes magical. This is what I call great writing, something that many authors forgo for unhinged plots & steamy shock factor scenes.

Not here though. Oh nooo… here the author clearly understands how the imagination works best if you write really well. Like a magical veil, this story opens her petals for you and you become mesmerised. Seemingly…the plot, plots. The steam gets heated and before you know it like the little froggy you’re in boiling hot water— water that was just cool a minute ago.

Everything comes together and you’re emerged in this story. The plot fits, the scenes are just right and the love interest makes so much sense. The characters are fantastic. The smutty parts feels on time & romantic. And the bullying & harassing feels tangible, less make believe more real. And the who done it— always in the background making things feels ominous.

With a Duet/MPV narration… give this story a credibility, unlike most and a cliffhanger that leaves you feeling freaking desperate. We couldn’t have asked for more. All stories should flow like this. Sound like this. Read like this. Pure magic!!!

Going straight to book two… I’m here for this. Can you blame me?!?! Quality stories like this don’t just come around like a gifted horse. Me, myself and I … am not planning to look it in the mouth.
Hellllloooooo… 😱😩
