The Capture.
As Atlee and her assistant, Carol Blum, race to track down the suspect, they run into Pine’s old friend and fellow agent, John Puller, who is investigating the suspect’s family for another crime.

The Kill.
Working together, Pine and Puller must pull back the layers of deceit, lies and cover-ups that strike at the very heart of global democracy. And the truth about what happened to Mercy will finally be revealed.

That truth will shock Atlee Pine to her very core . . .

Continue the gripping series with Mercy.

Critic reviews

A riveting brain teaser as well as serving up vivid action scenes (John Dugdale, Sunday Times)
A fabulous new character from a master storyteller. Readers will love Atlee Pine (Jane Harper, New York Times bestselling author of The Lost Man)
FBI Agent Atlee Pine is a heroine I'll never forget (Tess Gerritsen, New York Times bestselling author)
In FBI Agent Atlee Pine, he has envisioned a new kind of heroine, forged in the fire of trauma and driven by a rare kind of strength. It should come as no shock that a thriller writer for the ages has created a character for the ages! (Gregg Hurwitz, New York Times bestselling author of Orphan X)

I'm not a fan of the Atlee Pine back story of her abducted sister, and it took away from, what I liked, as the main story and rushed it. female arrator voice did not match the characters. enjoyable read but won't blow you away.

not one of his best but enjoyable

baldacci needed to sort out the twin story in this book as I've lost interest in finding out what happened to her. He can use Atlee Pine as a standalone character with new stories without the 'mercy' mystery running alongside. I don't really care about her any more. the ending was stupid

lost twin story getting bit tedious but good read

I really enjoyed this but made the mistake of jumping in here at book 3 rather than book 1 😣 . It features two brilliant characters, one of whom im already very familiar with John Puller. Atlee Pine was new to me but equally compelling character. Enjoy but get in at book 1 to fully enjoy the series, it’s twists and turns, surprises and suspense.

Really Good
