About this listen

The nightmare continues for the new vampire's assistant in the second installment of the New York Times best-selling Saga of Darren Shan.

Darren Shan was just an ordinary schoolboy until his visit to the Cirque du Freak. Now, as he struggles with his new life as a vampire's assistant, he tries desperately to resist the one temptation that sickens him, the one thing that can keep him alive. But destiny is calling. The Wolf Man is waiting.

Brilliantly read. Great story. My daughter and I enjoyed listening to it together. (Some slightly gruesome moments so best maybe for a 10 year plus?) So enjoyable! Ace voice ✅

Loved it!

Marvelous book and yet another perfect performance by the narrator. This book brought me both tears and laughs. Starting the 3. One in the series right away!

The second book in the series picks up months after the first ends. The character's struggle with his new life is evident and taking its toll. The relationship between Darren and Mr Crepsley is fractious and difficult but through the course of the book, I found myself beginning to care a lot more about the protagonist in this book, the author does a much better job of creating sympathy for them.

Narration is excellent again. Captures everything very well.

The story itself seems better paced and the writing come across as more mature and developed than the first book. An entertaining listen. If you were a bit on the fence after the first in the series, its worth persevering with.

Developing well
