About this listen

Former college hockey player Sam Jameson is coming off a bad summer.

After the derailment of his hockey dreams and a nasty breakup with his girlfriend, he's ready to put his head down and work hard for the South Carolina NHL team. He doesn't count on Troy Nichols, though.

Troy, the star forward for the team, is unexpected in more ways than one. When sparks fly between the pair, there seems little sense in holding back. Can they make it work, or is this little more than a rebound?

Changing the Game is a low-angst MM hockey romance, just a happy, feel-good story about two men falling in love. Contains mature content. A complete list of content warnings can be found on the author's website.

excellent read. and listen. narrators as always are great. Troy is my love but Sam really is something else. his lack of issues with his awakening was refreshing.

absolutely adore.

The characters were likeable and the story seemed like it had promise initially but there was absolutely no plot! Sam falls for a guy for the first time but deals with it perfectly, Troy was an orphan with a rich sponsor dad but this is just mentioned and doesn’t become a plot point either. The coach is a homophobe but this doesn’t develop into anything of substance either. Sam’s mum doesn’t react perfectly to the news he’s dating a guy but again it was just a slight momentary hiccup and then moved on with no drama. Sam’s ex is trying to get hold of him throughout the story and finally arrives just to be told “I’m with a guy now” she makes a throwaway insult and that sub plot is over. Literally NOTHING happens in the entire story. Plus the very very sudden jump of “Nice to meet you, why don’t you room with me?” And literally day or two later jump into dating, to saying I love yous no mention of “hmm maybe we should set boundaries whilst living together and dating” Nope just insta forever love. This was SO disappointing. The characters the performance everything else was all good… if only it had a plot!

Good performance but no plot
